As of August 2026, approximately 4.8 million Colorado residents are located in areas experiencing drought, and January through July 2026 ranked as Colorado's fifth-driest January–July period since 1895.

For a turf farm or agricultural operation, drought isn't just a weather story.

It's an operating challenge.

Water affects:

  • Irrigation schedules

Why Does That Matter?

Because irrigation water sitting near the surface doesn't help a plant nearly as much as water available throughout its active root zone.

Better penetration can support deeper roots.

And deeper roots can give plants access to moisture farther below the soil surface.
